Now let’s talk fishing! The Alagnak River is simply a “powerhouse” when it comes to angling. You can target a WIDE variety of fish here - including king salmon, silver salmon, chum salmon, pink salmon (even years only), sockeye salmon, arctic grayling, and of course rainbow trout. So, whether you are a seasoned angler or a novice fisherman - there is something for everyone. Again, depending on what species you are targeting, the best time to visit will vary. Sockeye salmon run in early to mid-summer, are fun to catch, and make for a great shore lunch. After a limit of sockeye are in the cooler, you can go after the largest species in Alaska, the mighty king salmon! What a great way to spend a day in July! Late summer and early fall are prime time for chasing silver salmon and rainbow trout. June weeks are dedicated for trout anglers and offer the unique chance to throw dry flies or mouse patterns to these hungry trout before the salmon arrive.
