Angler's Alibi - One of the Best Alaska Fishing Lodges is Getting Even Better!

Angler’s Alibi started out in the early 90’s as a day spot for one of the premiere lodges in the area, No See Um Lodge. From this day spot to keep boats spawned a location to host guests overnight targeting the salmon that were literally right out the front door. The location on the Alagnak River allowed for easy landings and take offs for float planes and a bull’s eye on where to capitalize on salmon daily through July and August. We have taken this location and transformed it from a “tent camp” into an amazing lodge now over the 30 plus years since its first year in 1994. We have retained a family of 4 and their friends since this inaugural season, yes, they have never missed a year!

Epic Fly-Fishing in the Bristol Bay Watershed

Our location in Bristol Bay not only puts on top of daily tidewater salmon but also in the center of the best trout fishing rivers in the world only accessible by float plane. Our home base for fly-out operations has put us on the map as not only a great salmon lodge, but more importantly, an amazing trout lodge as well! Our home river and its tributaries have one of if not the highest concentrations of rainbow trout in the entire state of Alaska!

This location unlike many fly-out based lodges affords us amazing fishing opportunities when the weather is not conducive to flying, which unfortunately happens often than not in Bristol Bay. There is always a trout, salmon, grayling to target from the lodge! Our guide team is one of the oldest in the state with a tenure of a combined knowledge base of over 90 years on our staff! This is unheard of in the lodge industry and shows with our success record with guests coming back for this fact alone. Our return rate of guests is 80 – 90% which is about as high as a lodge can get! Angler's Alibi knows when and where to go to capitalize on every week of the season for every species on the guest wish list! We only book guests into weeks that will meet or exceed their expectations. IF we cannot do this, we will wither book them in for the following season or refer them to our short list of other lodges we endorse.

Huge Upgrades Coming in 2025

Our new upgrades for the 2025 season are game changing with what we have offered and what we are going to offer. New this coming season, we will have 6 brand new log cabins complete with in suite full bathrooms with double occupancy. This will allow more privacy and a much nicer overall experience especially when nature calls at 3am! We are retaining one of the best chefs we have ever had in 30 years for the 2025 season as well. This means more amazing apps, meals, deserts, and changing culinary delights for not only the guests but for the staff as well! We are adding 2 boats to the Kvichak river as well as the Naknek River for August and September months specifically. This will further broaden our fly-out program and enhance that trophy trout footprint we already made in Bristol Bay.

The overall daily experience at Angler’s Alibi will be enhanced by the cabins and fly out program, and we will continue to deliver first class service with a 1/1 staff ratio all season long. The day will start with bedside coffee, or the beverage of your choice set right on your nightstand at 6am. This is followed up by a custom breakfast to order complete with daily specials, fresh fruit, and either orange or apple juice. The next step after the normal morning duties is finished is to head down to the dock and either board the plane for a day of fly-out fishing for trout OR get in one of the boats for a day on the Alagnak River targeting salmon, trout, grayling, or ALL 3! This is always with a 2/1 guest to guide ratio, with 4 guests per 2 guides on fly-outs. We provide one of the best all-around packages with a small group atmosphere which allows us to make sure your trip is special and every day we are switching things up to keep it amazing as best we can! There is a reason we have one of the highest return rates in the industry, and it’s not just because the fishing is incredible, it’s because we make sure you are not a number like most places. Our goal is to exceed every guests' expectations whether you are returning again for another visit OR coming in for your first trip with us!

We do book up quickly, but we always have some space it seems early in the booking season which is the fall and Holiday season. By adding more trout weeks in the upcoming 2025 season where we only take 8 guests and all fly-outs are included, we have new space to offer. We also have space in our sockeye and king salmon weeks that allows our guests to take home coolers full of sockeye salmon as a great bonus! As we mentioned earlier, if we do not think we can exceed your expectations, we would rather not book you into a week that would not do just that!
