Ask the Pros - Kenai Peninsula / Seward Fishing from Shore

• I'm bring my family to Seward on the Kenai Peninsula mid July and wanted to do some shore fishing. Any locations accessible without a boat would be greatly appreciated. I fished the Russian River growing up but looking for different spots.

• Hi Mitzi,

  Any of the pull outs along the Kenai River between the lake and Skilak lake road all have access to shore fishing. If you are wanting to look for some dollies or trout, Ptarmigan and Quartz creek have good access as well. Your next option will be in Sterling at Bings Landing for Sockeye fishing but it will be very busy.

  Fishing from shore in Seward is also an option, Lowell Point can be a good spot.

• Hello,

  Congrats on your upcoming trip to AK! There are tons of public access points on the upper Kenai! Most are marked with parking signs and access points along the upper river. Some are fee areas so make sure if you're parked in one of these areas you pay to prevent a ticket. Enjoy your trip!
