Will be spending a few extra days in Seward after a cruise in mid August of 2026. My husband would really like to go fishing, but feels bad leaving me on my own doing an all day 12 hour trip. Have had a tough time finding something less on a Sunday or Monday that isn’t 24 people on a single boat. Any recommendations for a half day or even three quarter on a boat with 6 people? We will not have a car.

Get a hold of our good friend Jimmy Akana of Alaska Saltwater Fly Fishing. Jimmy offers a super cool experience of fly fishing for Halibut, Salmon and Rock Fish but also can do conventional fishing for them as well. He is a great guy and provides a great experience.

Excursion offerings on cruise lines can be tough! From talking with countless guests over the years here, trying to plan something on your own would be easier. There are some charter operations in Seward that offer half day trips but most are full day trips because of the distance that is traveled to get to some of the fishing grounds. There are also some charters/guides for Resurrection Creek/bay. Also, reach out to some outfitters/guides on the Upper Kenai River in Cooper Landing. That's relatively close to Seward and maybe able to pick your husband up. Enjoy your travels in AK!
