  • My family and I will be in Alaska in late July. Is there anywhere to fish from shore in Seward and Homer? If so, what would we be able to fish for? We also plan to fish the Kenai River.

    Thanks - Kristina

  • Kristina,

Congrats on your upcoming trip to Alaska! The Kenai River is a great fishery! While you are in Seward there is some beach fishing in Resurrection Bay where the river dumps in for a variety of salmon species such as Pinks and Silvers and possibly some late arriving Reds. Down in Homer you should check out the Nick Dugiak fishing Lagoon. The same species will be present there as well. In both locations there are many charter services that can take you out into the blue for halibut, salmon, and cod. So tons of fishing options. Have fun and tight lines!

  • Hi Kristina

You can fish right from the beach front in Seward and from the beach front along the spit in Homer. Using bait fish patterns, like a clouser or something similar, you can catch salmon, halibut, irish lords and other smaller saltwater fish.
