A self-guided float trip through the Alaskan wilderness on a large inflatable raft. These are easy flowing rivers with the purpose of the trip being fishing (not whitewater rafting). Which of our nine rivers you choose will depend on the species of fish you want to catch and the time of year. All of our unguided packages are designed for our guests to bring/supply as little as possible. In a nutshell.....you provide food, sleeping bag, and personal/fishing gear....we take care of the rest.

Prices for unguided trips include all bush flying and airport pick-ups and transportation around Aniak, rafts and camping gear. Contact Us for more information on our unguided float trips!

Trips run Monday through Saturday include guided fishing, round trip transporation from Aniak, lodging, food and one bush flyout for up to 6 people.
Imagine the wonderful fishing you will experience by having an experienced guide, an airplane at your beck and call and some of the finest fishing rivers in the world for an entire week!

Aniak Air Guides' lodge sits on the outskirts of the village of Aniak, at the confluence of The Aniak & Kuskokwim Rivers (see location page). Being right in the heart of the 3 most productive fisheries in western/southwest Alaska ( the Yukon, Kuskokwim, and Bristol Bay Drainages), gives us a unique advantage to access, and choose from so many wonderful and productive fisheries.

Local waters commonly yield 20-30 salmon per day!....not too mention all the rainbows, arctic char, dolly varden, & arctic grayling. King and chum salmon are the first to arrive.... starting their run by the village in mid June and culminating by the end of July. Aggressive silvers typically show in late July, and hit all the way thru mid-Sept. Reds and pinks are sprinkled in from late June thru early August. Rainbow Trout fishing is second to none, starting in mid-June, with hot fishing all the way in to September. Arctic char, dolly varden, and arctic grayling are also caught in abundance until mid-September.

From Rainbows to Salmon we can show you how to handle some of Alaska's best water in a day! Our summer single day float & wade trips take place up in the town of Willow, AK, a beautiful and scenic hour and fifteen minute drive north of Anchorage. We are the closest consistent fishing location to Anchorage! Since our guides are local fisherman first we know when & where to catch fish on the Alaskan road system.

Our trips can begin as early as mid to late May and run through Mid-October & just like anything in Alaska are at mother nature's whim. The rivers we guide on are the tributaries of the Susitna river systems. Based on which rivers are fishing the best, we supply our customers with the fishing gear they need (license's excluded) from quality waders & boots to rods, reels, line & even flies at no additional charge! We can provide transportation to and from the river or if you prefer or its easier for you to meet your guide at a specific location we can accommodate that. We realize that most folks who are doing these style of trips may be new to it & would have no idea what to bring, so we take the guess work out of it right down to having back-up ponchos and rain gear for our guests. On our full day trips lunch is included in the price and typically consists of reindeer brats, burgers, or a vegetarian options is also available.

The location of our 6-10 day trips is Western Alaska. Western Alaska is truly remote, very little evidence of humanity or other fisherman. The rivers we operate on don't have lodges clogged with jet boat traffic We fly into either Bethel or Dillingham via Alaska Air which departs multiple times a day from Anchorage. From there guests and guides board bush planes either on wheels or floats to head to one of many rivers in the vast area.

We target all 5 species of Pacific Salmon, mouse eating Leopard Rainbows, beautifully finned Arctic Grayling, brilliantly colored Dolly Varden, and Arctic Char. On all FishHound trips guests enjoy a 2 to one ratio (one guide two clients). Guests also enjoy our move-able "lodge", a large cook tent and dining area that can seat 8 and provide stream side views while being out of the elements. Clients have their own sleeping tents complete with cots and insulated down pads. Other than fishing clients are only responsible for packing up their personal gear, FishHound staff takes care of everything else.

We run heli-fishing on multiple rivers throughout south-central Alaska, which is easily accessible from the Anchorage area.

We offer single day heli-fishing trips as well as 2 thru 6 multi-day float fishing trips . This type of trip provides an amazing remote Alaskan river experience with much more ease than some of the further location we operate on. This is a perfect trip for folks who want a wilderness trip/experience but don't want to spend their whole time in Alaska in one remote location.

Most trips depart from the beautiful town of Talkeetna in the shadow of Denali. Denali provides an amazing view as you are flown out to some of the most phenomenal fishing in Alaska. Depending on the time of year we target all 5 species of Pacific Salmon. Huge bruiser Rainbow Trout are always present as well as Arctic Grayling and Dolly Varden.
