We take pride in being one of the largest and oldest fishing charter companies on the island. Strike Zone Sportfishing specializes in Salmon and Halibut fishing along the coastal waters of Ketchikan, Alaska. Our fishing excursions have used Knudson Cove Marina for over 19 years. This prime location is one of Alaska’s premier salmon and halibut fishing tours and offers anglers easy access to some of the best coastal ocean fishing in the world.

Choose from a Half Day (6 Hours) or Full Day (8-10 Hours) fishing for both Halibut & Salmon. Salmon will depend on the time of year you are visiting. King salmon will run thickest through the last two weeks of June right through to the first week of July, Silver (Coho) start running in August and go right through until October and August is the best time to catch Pink and Sockeye Salmon.

Our vessels were designed for the serious fisherman, they provide our guests a large comfortable fishing platform including roomy cabins and private enclosed marine toilets. Alaska Strike Zone has spent many years perfecting the tackle layout on our vessels, including 4 downriggers per boat, along with properly maintained rods and reels. Our vessels are equipped with the latest electronics to help our Captains locate the fish. We take pride in our operation. You will find our boats clean, and properly maintained along with our mandatory safety gear meeting and exceeding USCG standards. Our Captains are skilled fisherman with high catch rates who work as a team, trading secrets on the best working baits, tackles and hot spots.

Our Cruise Ship fishing excursions will make the most of your time in port. By booking directly with us, we will save you money and have more time for fishing and viewing the beauty and wildlife, Southeast Alaska has to offer. We can accommodate cruise ship guests from cruise lines including Princess Cruises, Holland America, Norwegian Cruise Line, Celebrity, Carnival and Disney.

We book only private charters. You will not be put into a group, your party will have the boat exclusively. Our Half Day Salmon Fishing Charter is a full 4 hours of salmon fishing for $150.00 per person (4 Guests minimum.) You can compare this to the on-board Alaska Cruise Ship price of over $209 per person for the same 4 hour salmon fishing charter run on a tight schedule.

If your time in port allows and you would like a few more hours on the water, we recommend our 6 hour Salmon trip at $185.00 per person, this allows you even more time to get into the fish and to see more of Alaska’s wildlife. On either one of our action filled fishing adventures, it is possible to see humpback whales, killer whales, porpoise, sea lions, seals, and more eagles than you can photograph.


Halibut fishing in Ketchikan Alaska provides some of the most exciting fishing in the world. Not to mention, Halibut taste great too. Halibut season in Ketchikan is from mid-May through to mid-September, but June through August is when they are most active and prolific.

Halibut in the waters of Ketchikan are the biggest fish you will find in the area, and they always put up a decent fight. While they do serve the Cruise Ship visitor you must book your charter outside of the cruise ship industry. This will save you money. Best of all their dock is next to the cruise ship docking area so you can simply walk over and start fishing.
