This is rustic camping with modern conveniences. Expect clean, and comfortable accommodations Because the lodge owns the land where the camp sits, there are permanent amenities such as bathrooms, showers, Wi-Fi and a recreation room.

Meals are gourmet and served in a huge dining tent. It is rustic camping with all the best amenities.

Fishing the Amazing Nushagak River

This is a 280 mile long river that flows from the Alaska Range down to Bristol Bay. Because of its large size, the river is used by the salmon to reach their spawning grounds. The smaller rivers that feed into the Nushagak River are a haven for King Salmon, Silvers, and other local fish. It is estimated that there are over 100,000 Kings that venture up the Nushagak River each year.

Why Choose the Nush?

The Nushagak River is a very limited fishing environment. The native peoples permit only a few camps to host guests along the waters of the Nush. That means exceptional fishing without the crowds. The Alaska King Salmon Adventures team features expert guides who know the river and know where the salmon are. If you want a day of just fishing for Rainbows, they can make that happen. You are given top quality gear to fish with and are dispatched to the fishing spots in customized boats. The G. Loomis Rods, Shimano Reels, and PowerPro Fishing lines set the standard for an amazing day of fishing big King Salmon. Alaska King Salmon Adventures preps, vacuum seals, and freezes your fish in their processing center so when you head home, you have a treasure chest full of Salmon to take with you.

Overall, an excellent place to discover the joy of fishing in Alaska. The crew here is well seasoned, and their experience helps make your fishing trip one you will remember for all of your life. Like the Salmon, you will return to the Nushagak River too.

Salmon and Other Excellent Sports Fish

Besides the kings, the Nush, as it is known to the locals, is home to Silvers, Reds, and Chum Salmon. Chum are also referred to as the Tigers. Also in the water are Rainbows and Dolly Varden Char. The Rainbows and Char are good sized. Expect 10-15 pound rainbows and char.

The Kings show up first and peak mid-June through mid-July. The Reds show up in July and dominate the water. When the Reds hit the scene, the bears wander down from the woods and enjoy the easy fishing in the shallows. The Silvers are the fish of August, and they are well known for their shenanigans. These salmon strike hard and put up the best fight. They leap from the river and twist in the air as they fight against the fishermen who have hooked them. Their acrobatics is amazingly well known. The Rainbows and the Char offer exceptional fishing too. Your guide will show you how to target either. Both swim with the salmon in hopes of eating carelessly deposited roe.
