Alaskan Escape is nestled in Thorne Bay on Alaska's Prince of Wales Island. The island is located Southeast Alaska located almost entirely in the Tongass National Forest. Alaskan Escape offers water front cabins and a short ride to premier Alaskan Salmon fishing on 16-foot Lund skiff boats. You're free to choose your own fishing adventure, but Alaskan Escape can point you towards quality fishing guides if you prefer some local tips and hot spots. After a few long days out on the water, you can also choose to simply walk down to the beach only feet from your cabin and enjoy excellent shrimp and clamming. Each cabin is equipped with a clam pot as well.

Fishing Thorne Bay

Offering the best of both worlds with premier salt-water fishing for 4 out of the 5 species of Alaska Salmon as well as Halibut and Lingcod on the calm waters of South East Alaska, Alaskan Escape is an affordable must see fishing destination. King Salmon, Silver Salmon, Pink Salmon, and Chum Salmon are best fished from July through September, where Halibut and Lingcod can be caught in the spring and fall months as well. The elusive King Salmon range from 25-50 lbs as do the Lingcod. Silver Salmon are caught between 12-15 pounds mostly, and the more common Pink Salmon average 3-5 pounds. Alaskan Halibut on these waters have been caught weighing in over 400 pounds and catches of 300 pounds are regularly reported. In between catches, nature watching with the reward of humpback whales and sea otters are often seen in these waters as well.

Plenty to Offer

Accommodations at Alaskan Escape vary from a modern look to a knotty pine interior for that true Alaskan feel. Either way, all are equipped with the necessary amenities as well as spectacular views. There are plenty to choose from depending on the size of your group. Cabins are situated on the south arm of Thorne Bay and are a stone's throw form the water. The cabins are grouped together offering the chance to share your fish story with the other anglers, yet the foliage of the island offers plenty of privacy form your neighbors if that is what you desire.
