Clover Pass Resort has over 60 years of guiding guests to their dreams of catching Salmon and Halibut. The resort is located a short 15 miles from the town of Ketchikan, Alaska and is an easy trip in a rental car. Lodging is easy here. There are 30 rooms that sit right on the water. The resort is named after the beautiful Clover Passage which is the body of water that runs right by the resort.

Each room can hold up to four people, with private bathroom, but the overall experience is not crowded. Clover Pass Resort has its own marina. The best part about lodging here is that there are no minimum stay requirements. You can come for a single night and fish or stay for a month. Another excellent reason to say here is that there is staff available 24 hours per day. They take guests seriously, and they want you to enjoy your stay.

Fishing Options for Clover Pass Resort

Clover Pass Resort offer guided and unguided fishing opportunities for both saltwater and freshwater fishing.

Freshwater fishing includes guides and fly out, and the overall rate usually includes your transportation between the airport in Ketchikan and the lodge. They supply all of the gear, though you are welcome to bring your own. A good fishing habit is to pack your fly case. They offer extensive online resources so that guests can prepare themselves for the best fishing opportunities. They happily take novice fishermen as well as fishing masters. The guides will make your fishing day a positive experience. TIP: For masters, the fishing here is so heavy that you might want to explore other fishing techniques. Freshwater fish targets Salmon, Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden.

Saltwater fishing includes guided fishing to some of Ketchikan's best saltwater fishing grounds and the transportation between Ketchikan's airport and Clover Pass Resorts. Guests have use of top quality equipment including poles, rigging, and rain gear. The salt water packages target a variety of ocean fish, such as Salmon, Halibut, Lingcod, Snapper, and Rockfish.

Both Guided freshwater and Saltwater fishing trips through Clover Pass Resorts includes customized processing of your entire catch. They will filet your catch, vacuum pack it, box it and freeze it for you.

Guides and Charters

At every resort or lodge that you visit, the guides are the folks who make it all happen. Clover Pass Resort partners with three local guide and charter services to make each guests fishing trip a memorable event. All three guides, Sean Michaels, Brad Saalsaa and Sam Dalin bring decades of fishing experience to each chartered fishing trip. All three have local fishing experience and solid reputations for finding fish and showing people how to fish. When it comes to fishing locally, these three cannot be beat.

Clover Pass Resort offers its guests a lot. Between the flexible stay schedule and the opportunity to dock a motorhome, guests of Clover Pass Resort leave feeling that their fishing trip not only had value, but was the best it could be.

  • What a great hidden gem out of the beaten path. If you enjoy kayaking and relaxation, this is the place for you. I watched two bald eagles dancing in the sky. Just WOW.

  • My son and husband just returned from here. The rooms were as minimal but nice hot showers. The mattress sunk almost to the floor it felt he said. So hardly any sleep. Food was delicious. Breakfast plenty to choose and start the day off great. Packing your lunches was Terrific. The dinners good at the end of an Amazing fishing filled day. Loved the outdoor big deck and activities. Plus what a view. Thanks for the live camera of the loading/unloading so I could get lots of pictures with about a 40 second lag. They supplied rain gear and did an amazing job cleaning and packing all their fish for the trip home. Truly a trip of a lifetime. But please get new mattresses ; )

  • We booked a fishing trip with Svenson Sport Fishing while on a cruise, had a blast and caught lots of fish, highly recommend. As for the shipping of the fish, absolutely horrible. As a FedEx employee i asked if i could use my account to pay for shipping since i get a nice discount. Told lady i spoke with on phone that i could scedule pick up, all they had to do on computer was click on bill recipient and put in my account number. She said they can"t do that, it would confuse the young kids working there........REALLY. Paid $500 to ship 55lbs of fish priority overnight. Shipped out Monday so i get to work Tuesday morning and track package and it"s still in Alaska. Apparently the plane which was a Alaskan Airlines plane had mechanical issues and missed getting to Anchorage before the FedEx plane left. Being a employee, i know FedEx has a money back policy. I call Clover Pass to explain the situation and she said you did get your fish and i told her i paid to get it Tuesday not Wednesday. She said she would give my information to a manager and i would here back from them. Well, four different times i spoke to someone who was gonna have a manager call me and i never got a call, email or anything. Only the shipper can put in a claim to FedEx to get reimbursed for shipping charges. Obviously they make money on shipping charges but weren't willing to put the customer first. Thanks for nothing !!!

  • Great location to some of the best fishing in Ketchikan. Due to the high volume of commercial and charter operators at the dock I would use there sister Lodge, The Silver King. It is excellent. Much more personal touch and care. For self guided fishing on a budget it the best you?ll find anywhere.

  • Stayed 5 days and fished 4 days. The staff are great; friendly and helpful. The food is very good also. The rooms are Ok which is fine since you spend so much time fishing. They would help if they had blackout curtains and the walls were thicker. We fished with Axel Svenson. He is great! Helped us limit out on all species for 2 days and a bunch of fish the other days. He is helpful but will warn you if you do something that is not safe. He is a great captain and safety navigates rough seas. Get Axel and you will be happy!
