The Copper River Lodge, as the name implies, is right on the world famous Copper River itself in Iliamna, Alaska. Joe Hyde, the on-site manager, has over ten years of experience, and it shows. The lodge's track record speaks for itself. The facility was fully booked for the 2013 season, and at least 80% of clients are repeats or have been referred by previous guests.

The Copper River is one of the best trout rivers in Alaska

The Copper is a fly fishing only river holding some of the largest Rainbow Trout in Alaska. This scenic river is easily waded and crossed, and sheltered from the northern winds. It was the first in the state designated as a "fly fishing, catch and release only, trophy rainbow river." There's also excellent Sockeye Salmon fishing in July.
The classic Copper River rarely blows out. 80% of the water in this 22-mile long river originates from a lake, and when it does blow out, it recovers very quickly. It offers long dry fly glides, and some of the best dry fly fishing in Alaska in June and July. Deep, undercut banks add to the excitement.
The Copper River Lodge is the only lodge located directly on this world famous river. No need to boat in '“ just walk down to the water and cast your line. It also holds the only permit to trespass and fish the Copper, so you and your guide can access the upper waters that few others have had the opportunity to fish. The Lodge also has a boat for accessing other great fishing locations like the Gibraltar River.

A Luxury Alaska Fishing Lodge

Have an authentic and unique Alaskan experience during your stay. Clients stay in private cabins with private baths, showers, and decks overlooking the river. The newly rebuilt lodge is a great area for some rest and relaxation after an exciting day of angling in this exceptional fishing location.
Enjoy gourmet meals and fresh-baked pastries made by professional kitchen staff. Personalize your menu to include your favorites or account for dietary restrictions.

The Copper River Lodge only takes 6 guests a week!

The facility accepts only six guests per week, allowing for attentive, personalized service from staff and guides who know your fishing goals and abilities. Guests frequently comment that Copper River Lodge guides are the best they've fished with, probably because they're very familiar with the river. Most guides have been with the lodge for years, and have fished the copper daily for months at a time. They're professionals who have also worked in fly fishing locations around the globe. They consider guiding their profession '“ not just a summer job.
Choose to learn new techniques from one of these expert personal guides, or fish own your own. Whether you want to sleep in a bit later, get started a bit earlier, or see another alluring stretch of river, your itinerary is always flexible.
