Denali Fly Fishing Guides offers remote fly fishing trips for Arctic Grayling and Trout throughout the Cantwell area. Cantwell is a 212-mile drive from Anchorage, and the Denali Fly Fishing Guides sit just off of Alaska Route 3 - the George Parks Highway making this an easy place to find. Fishing here is intense as you have easy access to both the Fish Creek and the Jack River both of which eventually feed into the Nenana River. Expect top fly fishing for Arctic Grayling. Guests also have the opportunity to catch some Rainbow Trout as well with a day trip south to the Chulitna River drainage.
Fishing with Denali Fly Fishing Guides
Grayling are mostly top feeders, so a nice dry fly presented well usually means "fish on." The area around Cantwell, Ak, is a natural environment that produces a lot of Grayling. The rivers here are fast flowing and usually shallow. By mid summer the water has slowed as the glacial runoff becomes more manageable. This is the best time of year to fly fish here because the aquatic insects are busy dropping eggs back into the water and they make a feast for the Grayling and Rainbow Trout. The wide and shallow rivers create riffle after riffle which is a prime spot for insect nymphs to feed and grow. All of this comes together to make fly fishing here insanely delicious.
