The Deshka Wilderness Lodge sits along a remote stretch of the Deshka River. Guests fly into Anchorage and then fly from the Lake Hood to the Deshka River. The flight is about 70 miles and takes you Mt. McKinley. Once the plane lands guests are ushered upstream by boat to the lodge. One of the great things about the Deshka Wilderness Lodge is that they only take four guests at a time.
Guided Fishing in Beautiful Alaska
Michael and Linda offer guests outstanding salmon fishing along the Deshka river. The fishing day starts early so you have the best opportunity to temp the salmon with a lure. This is a spin casting lodge. Fly fishermen are welcome, but you will need to bring your own fly fishing gear. The target fish are the king salmon early in the season and the Silver Salmon later in the summer. These waters hold plenty of Rainbow Trout as well as the massive Northern Pike. If you fly fish, try to flush those out with a mouse pattern over the weedy spot in the river. They will also take a lure. They eat other fish, so silver type lures work well. If you love to fish the grayling here will not disappoint. These small fish are feisty, beautiful and challenging.
