EPIC Angling and Adventure operates two remote fly fishing adventure trips on the Alaska Peninsula. Each experience will take you far away from paved roads and the typical structured fly fishing lodge setting. There's no fine paintings, no fancy carpet and few formalities... just a genuine atmosphere, pristine waters, no crowds, sore arms and mind-blowing numbers of fish!
Check out compare trips for a good side by side comparison of both our remote operations and for current trip pricing.
Alaska Wilderness OUTPOST - The bottom line is that, with such a small group of fishermen (4 max. each week), you will experience some of the best small stream fishing found anywhere in Alaska.
'Outpost Creek', a 20 minute hike from camp, is wade-able and clear along its entire length. It boasts excellent small stream fishing for quality Rainbow Trout; try mouse, streamer and dry fly fishing for these trophies. There's also fabulous fishing for King and Chum Salmon, Arctic Grayling and Dolly Varden. Guides recommend a 7-weight fly rod for everything excepting the mighty King, which requires a 10-weight rod. The earlier you come, the more focus there is on trout and grayling. The later it is in the season, the more varied the fishing. Its remote location means that there's little chance of seeing fishermen from other lodges. Flying by helicopter to and from camp will significantly reduce any weather-related flight delays.
Alaska Wilderness SAFARI - the ultimate Alaska fishing adventure for diehard anglers and/or families.
Facilities include rugged, semi-permanent Weatherport shelters, hot showers, heated dining and gear storage shelters, gourmet dining, and limited open bar.
Outstanding fishing is found, literally, right in front of camp and presents a rare opportunity to sight cast for salmon in shallow, crystal clear waters on a firm tidal flat; even more unique is chasing pods of ocean-fresh salmon up and down a sandy beach, casting directly into the saltwater. The top water take can be absolutely exceptional some days for pink, chum and silver salmon, and the light tackle stream action for sea-run dolly varden up the beautiful no-name river valleys is often a guest favorite!
This is one of the best sea-bright salmon fishing sites in the world with no competition from other lodges. The reason the salmon fishery is so remarkable - the close proximity to the salt water, where you catch fish in prime fighting condition. And on occasion they even pursue halibut (and other saltwater species) on a fly, but generally conventional tackle is used to find these monsters in fairly shallow water (15 - 50 feet). The bay fishing is merely a bonus - the focus of the program is fishing in knee deep water, often sight casting to fish!
At the Alaska Wilderness SAFARI camp, you won't fish near fishermen from another lodge your entire week! Literally. Plus, this camp appears in the book 50 Places to Fly Fish Before You Die!
