Sitka is an amazing place for fishing. The natural marine environment is full of wild schools of King Salmon. The continental shelf here is short so you have access to both shallow fishing and deep sea fishing. That is one of the reasons why Sitka is Alaska's most productive fishing Ports. That line were the shallow water meets the deep water is a natural barrier that King Salmon and Halibut love because it helps them find the perfect water temperature and that means easy food. The Silver Salmon fishing here is good from late June onwards where you have plenty of access to 8-10 pound Silvers. King Fishing is perfect from May through July. Halibut are big and powerful and they are present all season long.
