Isuma Guideworks brings you face-to-face with the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the beautiful Brooks Range. Here, you have access to big fish, and something that will totally amaze you - the Sheefish - or the Tarpon of the North as the locals call them. Among the Salmon, the Silver Salmon are known for their fight. The Sheefish, make the Silver Salmon look docile. Why? because they grow to 50-60 pounds. A big trophy Silver is about 20 pounds. Isuma Guideworks - the adventure begins.

The Rivers and the Fish

The Canning River - the northern slopes of the Brooks Range - beautiful, you start at the Arctic Divide and float between mountain ranges. The fishing is good, the wildlife spectacular, and the water is clear.

Summit Lake and the Anaktuvuk Pass - A chance to fish and float in the runoff of melting glaciers, explore small streams, and feel the energy that makes Alaska beautiful.

Guests who enjoy fishing in remote locations and on rivers that few people ever fish are in for a great treat. Many of the rivers here are just that - unspoiled, pristine, and places where your heart will 'ever long to be.

Other rivers include the North Fork Koyukuk, Killik River, Noatak , Kongakut, and the Halahula River.

A Highlight is the Kobuk River which is where you find the amazing Sheefish. Along the way expect to battle various types of Trout, such as Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Arctic Grayling in addition to the Salmon. Everyone should try their hand at the Sheefish though.
