Kenai River Recon welcomes fishers of all skill levels. If you've never tossed fly or are new to spin casting, you are welcome. The techniques of fishing the Kenai are easy to learn and the fish make you seem like a pro. Guests of the guide service have access to King Salmon, Silver Salmon, Red Salmon, and Chum Salmon. On occasion, you may also see Pink Salmon.
Kenai River Recon is out of Soldotna, which is easy to get to and find by car. It is just passed Sterling on the Sterling Highway and takes about 3-hours by car. A good tip for driving is to leave extra time and stop in Portage, view the glacier, and take advantage of the visitor center and their bathrooms. You might even find lunch there in the giftshop.Â
The Kenai and Kasilof RiversÂ
From the mouth of the Kenai to the Kenai Lake you will find big, Fat, Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden.Â
Fishing is much the same on the Kenai as it is on the Kasilof. The Difference is in fish run times and having both rivers as an option makes your opportunity better.Â
