Full Day: $200 to $299 Per Person

Kenai River Recon welcomes fishers of all skill levels. If you've never tossed fly or are new to spin casting, you are welcome. The techniques of fishing the Kenai are easy to learn and the fish make you seem like a pro. Guests of the guide service have access to King Salmon, Silver Salmon, Red Salmon, and Chum Salmon. On occasion, you may also see Pink Salmon.

Kenai River Recon is out of Soldotna, which is easy to get to and find by car. It is just passed Sterling on the Sterling Highway and takes about 3-hours by car. A good tip for driving is to leave extra time and stop in Portage, view the glacier, and take advantage of the visitor center and their bathrooms. You might even find lunch there in the giftshop.

The Kenai and Kasilof Rivers

Both rivers are well-known for fishing and for their big Trophy Fish. The Kenai is a world-record river as it holds the record for the largest King Salmon. Many people focus on the Kenai but the Kasilof is equally capable of producing trophy fish. The upper and middle Kenai are where many people go to target big King Salmon, millions of Sockeye Salmon, Silver Salmon, and Chum Salmon. In the lower level of the Kenai River you will find all five species of Pacific Salmon, including the smaller pink salmon.

From the mouth of the Kenai to the Kenai Lake you will find big, Fat, Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden.

Fishing is much the same on the Kenai as it is on the Kasilof. The Difference is in fish run times and having both rivers as an option makes your opportunity better.

Fishing with Kenai River Recon

Kenai River Recon provides all the gear you will need to have the fishing trip of a lifetime. It is recommended that you bring polarized sunglasses, and rain gear. If you don't want to travel with waders, just let them know. Wader rental is available. In late season, the boat has a heater which makes fishing more comfortable.

Expect high-quality guides, good fishing gear, and a well-equipped boat.
