Spectacular fishing in the heart of the Alaskan wilderness. Located on the quiet shore of Larsen Bay on Kodiak Island, Alaska. Kodiak Island Resort is the most luxurious wilderness fishing resort and lodge in Alaska.

We’re among an elite group of Alaska fishing lodges, priding ourselves on providing a level of service that is refreshingly old fashion, with emphasis on quality. Our focus is our guests’ comfort and satisfaction! This focus is reflected in all our guest-oriented activities. From the moment the plane sets down to the time you reluctantly leave for home, you’ll enjoy a luxury wilderness vacation adventure.

Our lodge is set in a park-like setting, with a cozy atmosphere, featuring cedar and pine interiors, Alaska native artifact display, and numerous wildlife pictures and paintings. We feature deluxe bay view bedrooms, each with a private full-sized bath, a spectacular waterfront dining room, and outrageously good meals.

Kodiak Island is truly the last frontier for an Alaska saltwater or freshwater fishing trip, because it offers the highest catch rate, and best combination of halibut, steelhead, rainbow trout, salmon and lingcod fishing in the world. No other Alaska fishing lodge offers the quality, quantity or variety of fish and wildlife found in Larsen Bay!! The Alaska Department of Fish and Game ranks the Larsen Bay area among the highest in Alaska in total catch rate for halibut, king salmon, coho and steelhead. Our fishing lodge’s close proximity to the open ocean provides a steady supply of fish, while the islands, rivers, streams and bays provide sheltered water for comfortable fishing.

Fishing with Kodiak Island Resort

There are a lot of places in Alaska that offer outstanding Salmon fishing. There are many places that will take you fishing for Halibut. There are not so many places where you fish for both without having to get in a boat. Welcome to Kodiak Island home of the largest land predators on earth, and some of the biggest fish sports fishermen can find.

The Lodge is open from May all the way through October. During those prime months, guests have many options for fishing. Expect to experience fishing for barn door Halibut. Expect to enjoy world-class Salmon fishing for King Salmon and Silver Salmon. All five species of Pacific Salmon are available. In addition, these calm and protected waters are home to big Ling Cod and Bottom Fish. It is a rare day when guests of Kodiak Island Resort do not catch their daily limit for Halibut, Salmon, or Bottom Fish.

If you are thinking it does not get much better than this, then buckle your seatbelt. Guests also have the option of fly-in fishing to some of the most amazing spots. This is an excellent location for fly fishing for Steelhead and Rainbow Trout too.

Lodging with the Kodiak Island Resort

Many fishing lodges in Alaska are all about fishing. At the Kodiak Island Resort, the fishing is so good that we can devote time to providing outstanding service in a luxury setting. Expect views from your room of beautiful Larsen Bay - Outstanding sunrises, breathtaking sunsets, and during the day, views of the island and mountains. At night, you might catch falling stars, Northern Lights, or some of the most amazing full moons you will ever see.

The Food here is just as good as the fishing. Guests enjoy the executive lounge where there are plenty of hor d'oeuvres and drinks. Expect five-star meals and a menu that is richly diverse.

Lodging is via one of their six double occupancy rooms with two double beds. Each room has a private bathroom and spectacular views. Expect comfortable rooms plenty of style and luxury.

In your downtime, there are a million things to do and see. Guests enjoy beach combing, whale watching, and just relaxing.

  • Great Trip! The house crew of Erica, Kitty and Brian were fabulous. Boat Crews of Captain Mike and Jake and Captain Bob and Heath always put you on fish. Everyone makes you feel like family. The adventure begins when your transport planes can?t pick you up!

  • We had a great time catching (not fishing) for five days. All of the staff were great to work with. We couldn?t have caught so many fish without the help of our guide Captain Jim. Deck mate Pablo did all of the heavy lifting for us so we could catch over 50 lbs of fish for each. The dinner meals were absolutely amazing each night. Highly recommend this trip.

  • This place is AWESOME!! We can?t say enough wonderful things about the entire experience. The staff were exceptional. The boat crews were amazing. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and had the best time. Ok?and now about the FISHING! Extraordinary! We had huge hauls every day and the crew (thank you Captain Bobby and 1st mate Kurt!) always made sure we fished for a variety of species to 1) get the different kind of fishing experiences 2) understand the true bounty of the Alaskan waters and 3) be able to take home all kinds of delicious fish. Once back from our daily fishing outings, the staff and crew would process, vacuum pack and freeze the fish right on site (which is totally unique to this lodge) and then split the catch up equally with our boat mates to make sure everything was fairly distributed from the day. They have a great system in place and sent us home with more than 100 lbs of fish that we caught in 3 days!!! Then there?s the remote area to enjoy and explore. You fly Alaska Air from Anchorage to Kodiak Island, and then the lodge arranges for a small plane to fly you to Larsen Bay (across Kodiak Island) where the lodge sits in this stunning inlet that opens to vast waterways in every direction. Kodiak Island is a treasure spot in Alaska and this place is one of its finest jewels. Finally?the accommodations are great with private baths, a lovely lodge and 5 star meals prepared daily by the in-house chef. They have E-bikes you can take for a ride and Kayaks to explore around the bay (which we did and it was amazing!). A great place. Great people. Great experience. Obviously we would highly recommend to anyone looking for a lovely, and fruitful fishing experience.

  • Upon touching down in Larsen Bay, we were greeted with smiles and eagerness to show my Dad and I a fantastic experience. Sitting down to a 5 star dinner first was nothing but phenomenal. Each day on the water was more beautiful and bountiful than the next hitting our catch limits almost every day. Captain and mate were very experienced and put us on the meat each day. Chef Jeremy is top notch and still full!! We will definitely be coming back and bringing everyone who is willing to make the trip!

  • We had an amazing experience at Alaska's Kodiak Island Resort. From the moment we arrived in Kodiak the ownership and staff took such fantastic care of us. We had a family group of 12 that included 4 young children and the resort catered to our every need. 6 of the adults fished hard for 3 days and we caught so many fish we can barely lift our arms. We limited out on Halibut, Yellow Eye, Black Rockfish (Black Bass), Cod and the last day we were on Sockeye Salmon. The captain and crews of the boats were not only accommodating towards beginner fisherman but also challenged our more experienced anglers. Captain Jim, Captain Bobby, Pablo and Curtis were top notch on the water and coming back to the Resort to the 5 star cuisine that Chef Jeremy, Miss Kitty and the big boss Erica provided was simply the best. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a true Alaskan experience without having to worry about a thing. The owner Bob Gerondale has put together a world class experience, we have already been planning our next visit.
