Welcome to Haines, Alaska, the last stop on the Alaskan Marine Highway. Getting here is as easy as flying from Juneau, which takes less than an hour. You can also drive from the mainland as Haines is the spot where the Alaskan Marine Highway meets the Alaskan Highway System. Kraken Charters offers chartered fishing for Salmon and Halibut and sightseeing tours that include whale watching and glacier viewing.

The Fishing with Kraken Charters

The local waters around Haines, and its sister city, Skagway offer fantastic fishing for Halibut, all five species of Pacific Salmon, Rockfish, Shark - including the 700 pound Salmon Sharks, Lingcod, Snapper, and Bass.

Lynn Canal, which is the Fjord that spans 90 miles from the Inside Passage to Skagway, is the deepest Fjord in the US. It is an ideal place for Halibut fishing because the Halibut love the cooler water, and with such a deep Fjord, they have access to both the shallow dwelling baitfish, salmon, and other fish and the cold water that they love.

Expect a clean boat, helpful staff, and the opportunity to join in the Kraken Award - Derby. The prize is full bragging rights for catching the biggest Halibut of the season and a full refund of your charter.

Exploring Haines, Alaska

There is a lot to do around Haines, and Kraken Charters helps you see and experience a lot of that to-do list. Wildlife charters are very common, and people enjoy viewing various wildlife, such as the humpback whales. It is not uncommon to spot large sharks, dolphins, seals, and sea lions, and even smaller critters like sea otters and puffins. The wildlife is beautifully set against one of the most picturesque and scenic vistas you can find. The tall mountains seem to rise out of the sea while the massive volcanoes lurk in the background, showing their snow-covered peaks. The forests sweep dramatically to the sea, and glaciers calve massive blocks of ice into waters. Getting close to some of the wildlife can only be achieved by a charter boat. Some of the most beautiful glaciers are tucked into the ends of Fjords that are accessible only by boat.

Your Alaskan fishing trip is made complete when you fish with Kraken Charters. They offer full and half-day charters.
