Shelter Cove Fishing Lodge is located near Craig Alaska on Prince of Wales Island. As one of Alaska's finer fishing lodges providing an oceanfront experience with accommodations for twenty to twenty four guests. Shelter Cove Lodge supplies excellent food services, fishing guides, boats and gear for a true Alaskan Fishing Adventure, our lodge is open 12 months a year. The rooms are fully furnished and include a coffee pot and microwave and free WiFi, to name but a few of the amenities.

Meals are included and the dinning room is set up like a restaurant. This is a fairly easy lodge to get to. Once you land in Ketchikan you can take a commuter airline to Prince of Wales Island or you can board a ferry and enjoy the scenic three hour cruise. The service starts the minute you step foot on the Island. The Lodge greets each guest at the airport or ferry bay. There is a nearly 1:1 ratio for guests to staff members at the lodge. Service here is nearly perfect.

Fishing and Fishing and More Fishing

Try 10 hour fishing days. That is what you get here at Shelter Cove Lodge. This is a saltwater fishing lodge, though guests have the options of arranging a freshwater fishing adventure that is guided or unguided. The primary fishing is Salmon and halibut focused. The waters around Shelter Cove offer a diversity of fish. The waters here are so thick with fish that guests limit out every day. With ten hours of fishing per day, you can easily limit out on other species of fish too.

Fish Rich Waters and Early Limiting Out

Because the waters here are so fish-rich that you will likely limit out early, think about what other species for which you might like to fish. Keep that in mind because there are plenty of specialized species that you will have time to learn how to catch. The predatory Lingcod is one such target. In the Southeast of Alaska you might also gear up for a Salmon Shark. Salmon Shark range from 4-8 feet on average and the 10 footers can reach over 700 pounds. This is a top predator so only fish for them if you are willing to eat it. They provide an amazing service to the halibut and salmon fisheries. There are plenty of bottom fish and rock fish along the Southeastern shore. The narrow strip of continental shelf provides both excellent shallow saltwater fishing and deep see fishing too.

There is plenty of value to be found at Shelter Cover Lodge. If you are into fly fishing you will have to bring your own gear. The lodge provides everything else you need except your fishing license. It is pretty amazing to salmon fish with a fly rod.
