Lodging with the Talkeetna Fishing Lodge

The lodge is remote, but it offers amazing accommodations. Expect to find standards features like running water, hot showers, electricity in all of the cabins, fireplaces, sauna and even entertainment.

The Cabins are equipped with twin size beds and offer comfortable sleeping while you recover from fishing. Most have decks with chairs and those make a perfect place to relax before dinner. There is a common room with bar and area for socializing. Overall, expect to find warm and comfortable accommodations and a friendly and fun atmosphere.

Fishing Chunilna Creek

Chunilna Creek, which translates as Clear Creek is a tributary of the Talkeetna River which feeds into the Susitna River. This makes Clear Creek an amazing fishing destination. Here you find big Rainbow Trout, big Dolly Varden, and Arctic Grayling for which to fish. There are also plenty of Salmon

You will need to bring your own rod and reel along with tackle. It is a standard recommendation to bring a medium-medium or medium-heavy weight and medium-lightweight rod so that you can maximize your fishing options. An 8-9 weight rod is good for Kings and big Rainbows. A 5-6 weight rod is perfect for Arctic Grayling and these are super fun fish to catch. They are small and good to eat.

The Lodge includes a group guide who will help you land fish, teach you how to fish, and take you to where the fish are. Kings are one of the biggest attractions here and guest have access to 40-50 pound fish. Many of the Kinds are in the 10-20 pound range.

Rainbow Trout are another big target here. The Rainbows range from 12-24 inches and make for a fun day of fishing. Dolly Varden are very similar to Rainbows and Alaska is one of the only places you can find these beautiful fish.

The Arctic Grayling are small and feisty. These are smart fish with huge sail fin. If you have not fished for Grayling put it on your bucket list. They are one of the most favored fish for fly fishermen.
