The Local Guy offers Charters & Sightseeing adventures. Meet Captain Adam Underwood, an Alaska Native who has been fishing these waters since he could barely walk. Adam is the Local Guy behind The Local Guy and offers a variety of options for fishing these fish-rich waters off of Juneau.

Fishing with The Local Guy

Real people, real fishing. When you are here on their boat they care for you like you are family. The Legacy is the charter boat and a 28' heavy-duty Aluminum vessel of the same grade used by Law Enforcement for its pure mix of power, stability, and safety. The legacy is built with creature comforts that uplift you during your day of fishing. Battling Barn door Halibut will wear you out. Expect a heated cabin, on-board restroom, and a knowledgeable and experienced crew.

Expect to fish with high-grade gear that is maintained frequently.

Fishing The Waters of Juneau, Alaska

Rockfish are available all season long and in plenty of numbers. In addition, you can target King Salmon which are in peak run from May through July and somewhat in August. If you have missed the King run the Coho or Silver Salmon are a hot target. They peak in July and through September though they are also available in June. King Salmon are the big guys but the Silvers are fighters that will thrill you. Halibut are available all season, May through September. A few days of cold weather will bring the big Halibut closer to shore.

The best month to book a charter is July as the Kings, Silvers, Pinks, Halibut, and Rockfish are all in Peak season. Technically, a charter in July could land you with one of all of the best fish around. The limit for Halibut is two fish per person and the waters here are rich with Halibut. That means you could limit out in an hour. Thankfully, there are plenty of other beautiful opportunities around. Rockfish are a large group of fish, and they include big Ling Cod. By big, we mean in the 20-60" range.

Juneau is a remarkable place to fish and certainly one of the more easily places to access big Trophy Fish. The Local Guy is also remarkable as a charter because he knows these waters, these fish, and takes the time to help you to realize your Alaskan Fishing Adventure.
