Welcome to the Tiekel River Lodge. We are located at mile 56 of the Richardson Highway, halfway between Valdez and Glennallen. The lodge lies on the north side of Thompson Pass, along the beautiful Tiekel River. On the 'good' side of the pass, the lodge is protected from the rainy weather commonly found in Valdez. The area is known to the locals as the 'Blue Hole' due to the often sunny weather. Our guests have found that we provide the tranquility of a quiet, rustic Alaskan experience without sacrificing any of the comforts of home.
Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden & Artic Grayling
The Tiekel River Lodge is a hiker’s paradise.
There are many different directions to venture from the top of Thompson Pass and the hikes at the Worthington Glacier are a must for any visitor. There are many other hikeable mountains in the area and several challenging peaks for the more advanced. The lodge is also conveniently located near Copper Center, the Telegraph Trail and other scenic runs. Ask about 'lunch on the mountain.'
