True North Sportfishing has been guiding fishermen on outstanding fishing expeditions for nearly 20 years. The lodge is located in the Southeast of Alaska along the Inside Passage at the town of Gustavus, Alaska.

The True North Sportfishing lodge is beautiful and of log construction. A rustic setting with plenty of amenities including flat-screen TV, large common room with fireplace, and beautiful views. Gustavus is small so you still get the feel of being in an authentic wild place. The town is also located near Glacier Bay National Park.

The lodge is comprised of five private bedrooms and holds up to ten guests. Gather around the family style dining table and enjoy gourmet meals prepared by their professional staff. Rooms are comfortable and designed with luxury in mind. What you should expect is a beautiful lodge, friendly staff, and plenty of creature comforts. Plus amazing fishing opportunities.

Fishing with True North Sportfishing

Halibut are fish that people dream about catching. Many of the smaller once, called chickens, weigh in around 30 pounds. The big one, called barn doors, can weigh upwards of 1,000 pounds or more. However, it is not uncommon to hook and fight a Halibut that is over 100 pounds. Fishermen fishing with True North Sportfishing have caught two Pacific Halibut in excess of 450 pounds. Because Halibut are all muscle, they fight like crazy. Expect to play out line on heavy poles rigged for these giants. A 200 pound Halibut is about the size of an adult man and usually twice as wide. That is a lot of fish to battle.

The Inside Passage is a perfect spot to fish for King Salmon and Silver Salmon. June is the start of the King Salmon season and guests can fish in the deep water where the Kings are fast and agile. Guests can also fish near shore in the Inside Passage where the kings lay and rest while they feed on bait fish. The Silver Salmon are a true sports fish. A 12-pound Silver fights like a big King. Mid-July through September you find the Silvers both in the open waters and in the Passage.

Other options for fishing include Ling Cod and Rock Fish which offer big trophy fish with plenty of action. If you want big fish with lots of action then True North Sportfishing is the place to be.

Guests fish from boats with private bathrooms, heated cabins, and equipped with top-line gear.
